You’re close to young people: as a youth leader, as a mom or dad, as a teacher. Time to prepare is rare. Pulse shows you regularly, in 30 seconds, what’s moving young people right now and hands you ready-made material to go with it. Free. So you spend less time at your desk and more time with them.

Why we do this
We believe that trusting relationships with reliable adults are the most important thing in a young person’s life, more important than any program. The next generation is growing up in a world that tips faster than we can keep up: more noise, less support, more reach, less closeness. What they need most are people who listen before they speak. Who are there before they are needed. Who love the way Jesus loved.

A small church made a decision.
“When my family came to Germany from Romania in 1990 and started over, a small church said: ‘We have no money, but we’ll invest in a youth leader.’ Someone who had time for me. That decision changed my life. Today my mission is to give back exactly that.” Andy Fronius, founder of Pulse
You are that person for your youth group, your kids, your class. That’s why Pulse exists: material that is clear, tested and ready to use, so you don’t start from scratch every week but put your time where it counts. By 2030, Pulse aims to do the same in 16 countries and several languages, so that a million young people have adults like that at their side.
Who’s behind it
Andy Fronius started the work in 2019 after more than twenty years in youth ministry; today he leads Pulse as a missionary and director of Pulse Ministries gGmbH. Esther Penner curates the content, from the structure of a lesson to the question of whether an idea really works on a Friday night. Carola coaches youth leaders. Ruth translates so that good material crosses the language barrier. Add to that authors, creators and educators from many churches and organizations who share their best material; every lesson and every game is checked before it goes into the finder.
We’re involved in church and youth ministry ourselves and know what a Friday night feels like when nothing is prepared yet. Pulse is Christian and interdenominational: at the center are faith and the next generation, not a particular tradition. That’s why everything fits in any Christian church, any family and any classroom.
How it came about
From a student website to a nonprofit, step by step. Click through the years.
Alongside his studies, Andy builds holysheep.de, a site with ideas for youth workers; the oldest article in the archive, “10 Principles for Youth Workers”, dates from this year. A few years later the site is called holynetwork.de, and Andy leads youth ministry, year after year.
Andy and his wife Ana move to Romania to adopt. Between family, church and youth ministry, the vision is born: a ministry that really helps youth leaders in the German-speaking world.
The vision becomes Mr. Jugendarbeit, a nonprofit association based in Basel. First videos for youth leaders, first ideas for a newsletter about the world young people live in.
Andy makes the work his full-time job: a daily newsletter, devotional series like GROW and Inspire, wide games, escape games, webinars. By 2022 this grows into more than 2,000 subscribers, over 200 articles, the largest German-speaking Facebook community for youth ministry, and partnerships with Axis, Grow Curriculum, Young Life and Youthscape, whose content is translated and adapted. A team forms.
The WERTESTARTER foundation honors the work with the Wertestern award. The live training “Youth Ministry Foundations” brings youth leaders into one room, not just in front of a screen.
Mr. Jugendarbeit becomes Pulse, and the association in Switzerland becomes Pulse Ministries gGmbH, a nonprofit in Germany. Add to that the book “In The Same Way”, the Finder with over a thousand items and 7,700+ youth leaders, parents and educators on the newsletter. And the first versions in other languages: Romanian, English, French.
Pulse in 16 countries and several languages, so that a million young people have adults who understand them, love them more and lead them better. The way Jesus did. The English version you’re reading is one of the first steps.
Three questions we get a lot
Is Pulse really free?
Which church do you belong to?
Can I get involved?
More like Jesus.
Together for the next generation.
