One of your teens has just told you they want to follow Jesus. It’s one of the best moments in youth ministry, and right behind it comes the question they’re probably already asking themselves: what now? Saying yes to Jesus is a beginning, and a new believer needs help with the next steps.

Youth for Christ USA, part of the worldwide Youth for Christ movement, wrote a reading plan for exactly this moment. *What Now?* is free in the YouVersion Bible App and on Bible.com, and it’s written for teenagers who are new to faith. In eight short lessons, it helps them understand the decision they’ve made, introduces the basics of the Christian faith and shows them how to read the Bible on their own.

Each day has a Bible passage, a few questions to think about and a simple challenge. The plan starts with the Bible itself: what it is, how the Old and New Testaments fit together, and why it helps to read it as one big story instead of a collection of single verses. Then it explains what it means to say yes to God, how the Holy Spirit makes us new, and why following Jesus is about a friendship with God more than a list of rules. The last lessons are about prayer as an ordinary conversation with God, about why we need other Christians, and about living out faith at school, in the neighborhood and with friends.

Again and again, the plan encourages teens to go through it with a Christian friend or leader. That’s where you come in. Read it alongside a new believer in your group and meet up every few days to talk about what they’ve read, or use the lessons as a starting point for a small group of teens who are taking their first steps with Jesus.
