****Group:** 12+ · ****Where:** Indoors or outdoors · ****Materials:** None, music helps · ****Skills:** reaction

Since Squid Game at the latest, your students know this game; thankfully, we play it a lot more peacefully. Everyone wanders around the room mumbling “mingle, mingle, mingle” as long as the music plays.

When the music stops, you call out a number, for example “Six!” Now everyone has to form a group of exactly that size as fast as possible, link arms and sit down together. Sitting down seals the group: after that nobody else can join, no matter how desperately someone knocks on the door.

Whoever doesn’t find a group is out. Change the number every round. Toward the end it pays to call strategically: with twelve players left, a “five” creates drama. And when only two are left, simply declare them both winners.

With a good playlist and a bit of light play, this simple idea turns into a real energy booster for the evening.
