🎲

****Group:** 6+ · ****Where:** Outdoors · ****Materials:** 1 ball · ****Skills:** dexterity, speed, fairness

All players gather in a very tight circle in the middle. One player starts by throwing the ball high into the air and calling out another player’s name. Everyone runs away except the player named, who tries to get the ball as fast as possible.

Once they have the ball, they shout “Stop!” All other players have to freeze immediately. The player with the ball may take three steps and try to hit one of the other players with the ball.

If a player is hit, they become the thrower for the next round. If nobody is hit, the original thrower tosses the ball into the air again and calls out a name. In the US, this game is known as Spud.
